Death of Pet Sympathy Card
The selection of a death of pet sympathy card might seem to be quite simple, however, each situation calls for individual consideration.
I think of the many pets we have lost and each situation was a little different.
Satchmo the Cat
With our first cat, Satchmo (named for my husband’s idol, Louis Armstrong) , we were living on a small acreage, in a trailer waiting for our house to be built.
He loved to wake us up chewing on our noses! Our cats loved the space to play, mouse and occasionally take on a possum. One night we heard a commotion and assumed it was a possum challenge.
We didn’t go outside as it was middle of the night and not unusual for the cats to stay out all night. Then next morning, Satchmo was nowhere to be found. A dead possum laid by the back door.
Satch never came home, and a few weeks later, the neighboring farmer said he had found our cat and buried him, not knowing who he belonged to.
An appropriate death of pet sympathy card might have acknowledged the initial worry of not being able to locate our pet, finding out much later that he had died, and just being sad for our loss.
We suspect the neighbor’s dog who was allowed to run loose, but we will never really know. At least were reassured that he had been buried.

Caesar
A

for Caesar, ( a German Shepherd mix that my husband brought home from the neighborhood grocery store when I was pregnant) would reflect a little different sentiment.
He was an adorable little ball of fur sold by one of the neighbor children from a cardboard box for $3.00. He was such a cool dog, and had many adventures in his life. We had him for 11 years and losing him was much different from the death of our cat.
The loss was especially devastating for our 11 year old son who had known this dog all of his life. He was so used to having a dog in the house that it felt very empty for him without Caesar.

Chou Chou
Chou Chou‘s name is French for cabbage, (literally cabbage cabbage) and she was a very unique little cat. He would leap from our roof to the neighbor’s like a flying squirrel.
He was not the brave possum warrior that Satchmo was, so was less likely to take risks with other animals. He was a manx mix and had no tail, except when he ate the icicles off of the Christmas tree!
His personality made us think of him as a female, he was very cuddly and mild mannered. At any rate, when he was dying, our little Nacho laid beside him until he breathed his last breath.
His death of pet sympathy card would appropriately reflect his long life and gentle personality.

Nacho.
For our little miniature poodle Nacho, the death of pet sympathy card was made to share an announcement of his death as well as express our grief.
We used a darling picture of him curled up in his bed and a little poem about how much we loved him. We shared it with the grandchildren and our veterinary clinic.
Our granddaughter, five years old at the time, was determined to come to see him before he was buried. After she was able to say her goodbyes, we placed him in his favorite blanket and laid him to rest in the backyard among the flowers. (Not sure that was sanctioned by the municipal authorities)
She said a sweet little prayer and we hung a windchime in the branches of a nearby tree for him to communicate with us from heaven.
