Grief and Loss Resources

Grief and loss resources are plentiful online, sometimes not so easy to locate locally. Some therapists specialize in grief and loss work. Others write reference material and still others provide support networks.

Emotional Freedom Techniques TM (EFT) has been a very effective tool in resolving grief, while protecting the honor of the deceased person and providing healthy ways to memorialize that person.

Many EFT successes have been recorded in the area of grief and loss, and show how grievers can assess their needs in relation to moving forward in the grief process.

Other types of energy psychology abound, and each has its own claims regarding the healing obtained from its use.

Individuals have many options when it comes to grief therapy, but all are not necessarily available in all communities. It is wise to be familiar with as many as possible.

Then, in the event of a loss, one is able to quickly tap in to grief and loss resources appropriate to the loss, and readily available to the griever.

Hospital chaplains and public safety chaplains are often on the first lines when grief strikes and are generally available on a moment's notice.

School counselors are available in larger schools, and local pastors are usually available in smaller communities.

Mental health professionals, counselors, social workers, primary care physicians and psychiatric specialists such as nurse practitioners are available in some communities.

Generally these professionals have regular office hours and are not accessible for immediate support.
