Dog Park Therapy A Healing Day at the Dog Park

Help yourself to some dog park therapy with these lovable canines.
Their owners have graciously permitted the use of their pets' pictures to comfort grieving souls on this site.
The more time I spend there, watching, walking, relaxing, the more I realize how pets calm and heal.
At the dog park, there is no class system, it is a "level playing field". No one cares what you do for a living, or whether your dog is a purebred or a mutt.
We have experienced such friendliness, water-bowl sharing, laughter and simplicity, that we decided to call it "Dog Park Therapy".
We are profoundly grateful for the opportunity to have this beautiful play place for dogs and their owners alike. Obviously, many owners take advantage of this idyllic spot by the river, for their own Dog Park Therapy sessions.
Tess Report. . . . .

Tess and her humans want to let you know that she had her second ACL tear, the other leg, in May, and are happy to report that she is doing beautifully. This was an easier time for her. I guess experience counts for something!! We are grateful to Dr Delia Surroz, Dr Heather Sapp, Dr Sara Anderson, Dr Kari Clawson, Dr Rebecca Birchmeier and Dr. Susan Libra and the wonderful staff at South Salem "Compassion" Pet Clinic for their awesome care. You can find them at Companion Pet Clinic South Salem 4580 Commercial Street SE Salem, OR 97302 Ph: (503) 399-8300 Fax: (503) 399-8339right behind Sherwin Williams and Davidson's Landscape and across Commercial from Winco Foods.
This is Dragon, a handsome and friendly Eurasian, comes to the park with his pack mates Max and Tucker. He is a laid back Dog Park Therapy staff dog.
Max is a mix of Great Pyrenees and Meramma. He is happy that his 'brother' Tucker is recovering from through his surgery well and is back at the park.
Great Danes and Boxers
Dudley the Great Dane weighs 165 pounds according to his human. He is a gentle giant. What I noticed first were his ears, pointing straight up and toward each other, what a handsome fellow!
Duke is a Great Dane, too. This day he made a new friend in Layla, a Brazilian Mastiff.
Patch is a beautiful white boxer. She joins several brown, and brindle boxers who are regulars at the dog park.
Ted and Winston are charming boxers who love to play and really can't slow down to be photographed. These are on the play therapy team at Dog Park Therapy.
Tucker, Great Pyrenees, had surgery last fall and since we haven't been out for quite a while, we don't know if he can still visit or not. In any case, we hope his retirement is peaceful and happy.
Gustav is a German Shepherd who was rescued from New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina. He has lived with his new family in Salem for about two years. He comes to the park to play with the other dogs, with his buddy Ivan.
Ivan is a Yorkshire Terrier who lives with his family and Gustav. He has a special sweater for the cool evenings.
Henry the Cocker Spaniel puppy gets a kiss from Angela.
Lincoln is a happy Standard Apricot Poodle who loves spending time playing with the other dogs and walking with his human. Our Tess is in the background.
Bogie the Bassett was busy making his Bassett-sound when we got this picture. He comes to the park with his Bassett Buddy Maggie May, but she couldn't even sit this still. So many things to sniff!
Elias is a gentle giant breed known as Kuvasz, he is friendly with other dogs as well as a lover of people.
Honey Bear is a lovely Blue Heeler, who comes to the park and walks for hours with his human, Cheryl. She loves to hop up on the table and rest out of the activity central. She gives great doggie kisses and is patient with the puppies, who never tire of play.
This is Layla, a beautiful Brazilian Mastiff. She seems to be quite taken with Duke this day.

A Golden Day
Anzie, this beautiful Golden Retriever, doesn't like to let go of her ball! Tigger just wants to play.
These boys are both Golden Retrievers, Roger is the lighter colored and Homer the darker. They live together, and walk together with their owners. They love to play and socialize.
Rufus loves to come to the dog park and play with Oliver, another Golden Retriever.
And, of course, Oliver loves to come to the park to play with Rufus, but he will play with anyone who is willing!
