How To Go On Living When Someone You Love Dies
One of the best sympathy books in my opinion. It's written by a well known writer in the area of grief and loss. When I had experienced the death of a grandchild, I found myself struggling to make sense out of life.
I couldn't seem to focus, didn't know what was going on with me and felt like I was stuck. I found this book to be comforting from the standpoint that I realized what I was going through was a normal part of grieving.
The author's sensitivity to bereavement in many different situations is helpful no matter what your loss is. She helps you navigate the first days of shock after a death.
There is also help for the multitude of decisions that need to be made, particularly if you are the next of kin.
Another part of the book that was especially useful to me was her guidance in knowing how to restructure family relationships. Our little granddaughter's death left holes in many lives.
It changed the responsibilities and relationships among many of us as well. I can strongly recommend this book as an easy read and extremely helpful and comforting.
