The Grief Recovery Handbook
by James and Friedman
The Grief Recovery Handbook, 20th Anniversary Expanded Edition:
The Action Program for Moving Beyond Death, Divorce,
and Other Losses including Health, Career, and Faith
This book is a well thought out guide to get you through the process of grieving. It takes you step by step, giving examples of how other people have managed a variety of losses.
The authors have both experienced significant losses in their lives and therefore speak with wisdom and compassion.
Methods to help with asking for help from others, letting other people know when you need to be alone, and how to help children who are grieving.
I used it as a journal guide as I was recovering from the loss of a dear friend. It was comforting to know that I was going through the same thoughts and feelings that are normal for people who have had losses like mine.
If you need help to keep on track, and support to keep moving when you just feel like you can't make it through another day, this is the book for you.
I think a lot of people just don't understand what is going on when they have a shock like a death near to them and this really helps to make it a little less devastating.
